Midwest Beaver Summit

We are proud to be a co-host of the hybrid 2025 Midwest Beaver Summit, which will be held on Thursday, June 5, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. CT online and at Oakton College in Des Plaines, Illinois.

Register here to attend online or in person and learn more about the ecological importance of beavers to our region and how we can coexist with them by managing beaver conflicts non-lethally.

"This year's theme, "Resilience Through Relationships," reflects our understanding that building relationships across a spectrum of ideologies and interests is an essential part of beaver advocacy work. We need to be able to talk to different stakeholder groups, understand their priorities and concerns, and work to find win-win solutions. "Resilience Through Relationships" also reflects our understanding of kincentric ecology, an Indigenous perspective that views both people and nature as part of the same ecological family that shares ancestry and origins. Our "relatives" include all of the natural elements of an ecosystem, including the beaver.

Presentations will cover a variety of topics and themes, including agroforestry, beaver ecology and ecosystem services, how to write a beaver management plan for your local entity, Indigenous ecological knowledge. Breakout sessions will offer opportunities for attendees to have deeper conversations with other stakeholders about topics of interest to them, as well as to learn about topics in depth."
