About
Wonderland is a place for creating reciprocal relationships with the Land and each other, while working on restoring ecosystems that were lost to land development and neglect. Our work is rooted in mutual aid, solidarity, and the sharing of resources, capabilities and care.
With 121 acres to restore, in Wonderland Community Project there is a diversity of ecosystems and landscapes, from wetlands - including swamps, marshes and a fen - to kames and eskers, and oak savannas. Our work on the land meets at the intersection of social justice and climate change resiliency with a focus on adaptation and mitigation skills and projects.
Currently we don’t have running water, electricity or any indoor facilities, but our dream is to live there while we practice convivial conservation, living off the land and sharing our space with others in a supportive environment accessible to all bodies, ages, genders/pronouns and identities.
This year we are looking into Land Back options in the form of paying land taxes to the Potawatomi Nation, whose ancestral lands we occupy.
If you would like to come out for a visit, pitch in during one of our work days or attend an upcoming event. We have guidelines for you to read and a waiver for you to sign! Email us at wonderlandcommunityproject@gmail.com
